Curriculum Statement

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum has been carefully crafted, developed and structured to ensure high levels of engagement, enjoyment and personal development from each child, to help them achieve their best possible academic standards, regardless of ability. We aim to provide a curriculum to develop inquisitive, independent thinkers with a love of learning. We understand that the curriculum, both within taught lessons and beyond them, should create an environment where questioning, academic risk-taking, divergent thinking and the freedom to learn from mistakes are all encouraged. The curriculum should be seen in its widest sense as the entire planned learning experience. This includes formal lessons as well as events, routines, and learning that take place outside the classroom. Wherever possible we use 'real life' learning opportunities, visits, visitors and the outdoor environment to enrich children's learning.

A Curriculum Crafted for Our Children

Our curriculum is built around the belief that every child should feel welcome, accepted, able to achieve and loved. These values underpin everything we do, shaping an environment where children feel safe, respected and encouraged to thrive. We recognise the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our pupils, and therefore have developed a curriculum that reflects their needs whilst opening doors to a world of opportunity beyond Rossington.

We are proud of our community and the heritage of Doncaster and we ensure that our curriculum celebrates this, while also broadening horizons and inspiring our children to aspire beyond their immediate surroundings. Through carefully planned learning experiences, we foster curiosity, resilience and a deep love of learning.

Ambition for Every Child

We set high expectations for all learners, ensuring that our curriculum is knowledge-rich, carefully sequenced and designed to build on prior learning. We want every child to achieve their very best, developing the skills and understanding needed to succeed in life. Whether through core subjects like English and Maths or through our enriching wider curriculum - including the arts, sports and personal development - our ambition is to equip children with the confidence and capability to make a positive impact in their own lives and within their community.

A Curriculum That Supports Our Community

As a school at the heart of Rossington, we are committed to ensuring that our curriculum reflects both the strengths and challenges of our local area. We incorporate local history, industry and culture into our teaching, helping children develop a sense of pride in where they come from while also broadening their horizons and preparing them for the wider world.

We work closely with families and community partners to provide meaningful learning experiences that enrich our children’s education and raise aspirations for all. By connecting learning to real-life contexts, we inspire our pupils to see the opportunities available to them and to strive for success in whatever path they choose.
