About Our School
Rossington St Michael’s Church of England Primary School is situated within the village of Rossington and directly opposite St Michael’s C of E Church. We are incredibly proud of our very special school and we are a proud member of the Diocese of Sheffield Academies Trust (DSAT).
At St Michael’s, we constantly aim to be an exceptional school with our Christian ethos at the very heart of all we do. We are committed to providing a caring environment where all children are welcome, all are accepted, all are loved and all achieve. At present, there are around 370 children on roll and between 20-27 children in each class. The children are taught in single-age classes and there are two classes per year group.
The school building dates back to the 19th Century, although, over the years, the school has undergone significant expansion, refurbishment and cosmetic enhancements, ensuring our internal learning environments are as magnificent as our outdoor spaces.
We work hard to ensure that we have excellent values & ethos & that our relationships & behaviour are outstanding. We are fully committed to raising achievement & attainment to the highest possible levels as well as ensuring that teaching and learning are of a consistently high standard. We take pride in developing outstanding teaching and learning by holding the highest expectations of all our pupils and knowing the children well as individuals.
Our students are given time to explore subjects and develop deep understanding. We celebrate perseverance; resilience and risk-taking, ensuring children welcome a challenge and are not frightened to make mistakes. We encourage children to take ownership of and responsibility for their learning, so they have the confidence and curiosity to ask questions, solve problems and respond to quality feedback.
Working together with parents as partners in their children's learning is vital if we are to achieve optimum learning for each child in a happy atmosphere. Every decision within the school is made by firstly considering what is in the best interest of the children. The children lie at the heart of everything we do.
