Early Help

What is Early Help?

Early Help is a supportive service available to families, children and young people who may be experiencing challenges. It brings together a range of services including Family Support, Youth Offending, Education Welfare, Children’s Centres, and more, to offer the right help at the right time - before problems become more serious.

All families face tough times at some point. Early Help offers practical advice, emotional support and access to services to help families find solutions and move forward positively.

How Can Early Help Support You?

The Early Help team can offer support if:

  • You’re worried about your child’s health, development, or behaviour
  • You’re a young person or carer looking for help with education, training, employment, or benefits
  • Your family has been affected by bereavement, domestic abuse, substance use, crime, or other difficulties
  • Your child is missing from school or engaging in risky behaviour

They can also provide help in early childhood, supporting you with parenting, early learning, and school readiness.

What Does Early Help Offer?

Early Help can assist with:

  • Giving children the best start in life
  • Support for teenagers and young people including safe activities and advice
  • Help with mental health, relationships, bereavement parenting, childcare and managing challenging behaviours
  • Help for children and young people who are not in school, struggling with attendance or at risk of disengagement

They work in schools, homes, youth centres and children's centres, offering support where it’s most convenient for you.
